Playing Warhammer 40K Darktide can be a lot of fun with friends but sometimes it can be good to relax and hone your skills. If you want to know whether the game can be played offline with bots then you have come to the right place.
This guide will tell whether Warhammer 40K Darktide can be played with bots or not.
Can You Play With Bots Only?
The short answer is sort of yes, with the release of patch 1.0.20, players can now create their own private lobbies but the catch is that it requires the presence of two players or more in the party.
However, the feature is currently in a beta phase and is nowhere close to solo mode since you need at least one more player to play with bots privately.
Thankfully, the developers have said in a community update that they are working on solo mode and it will be released in a future update.
In a community post on Steam, Fatshark said that “We’ve been working on an option to play exclusively in Solo Mode, where you will be hosting locally your own instance with bots.
Because you will be hosting the AI and other game systems locally, this will increase performance costs.
However, we continue to monitor and improve the performance where we can. Solo play is in its final stages of testing as we fix the last issues that remain. We aim to release this at Launch. If not, a patch shortly after that in December”
This means that currently, the only way to play with bots is to host a private lobby with your friends until a full-fledged solo mode arrives in a future update.
If the number of players in the private lobby drops down to one then it will be automatically switched to a public lobby.
Similarly, if a player decides to leave in the middle of a match then he will be automatically replaced with a bot.
One potential reason why the feature is still missing is the massive amount of server resources required to create a solo mode and the requirement of a constant internet connection to play the game.
Another reason is that the game is designed to be played in co-op with other players and having a solo mode isn’t on top of the priority list of the developers.
We can only hope that Fatshark stays true to its word and delivers the long-awaited solo mode in a future update.
