Steam: How to Refund a Game

What you need to do is open up Steam, go to the “Help” icon in the upper left corner and the first option is going to say “Steam Support”.

Once you’re here under steam support, you’re going to see a few of the most recent purchases that you made. One of these games may be eligible for you to refund.

There are a couple of things that go into play here. First, how long you’ve played the game.

If you’ve played the game for a certain amount of hours, there is a possibility that you won’t be able to refund that game, because obviously, they don’t want you to play the whole game and then you decide to get the money back to buy another game. By steam policy, you should not have been playing the game for more than 2 hours.

In the next window, if we click on Artifact, we’ve selected the game that we want to refund, there will be many options as to why you want to refund it.

If you click on “It’s not what I expected”, you can be as detailed as you want on these steps.

The next step will open where you have 2 options to choose from.

You will clearly click “I’d like to request a refund”, and then it’s going to say checking for a refund availability.

There will be a note that says refunds are typically not issued for purchases that are more than 14 days old.

You can click the drop-down menu, where you can choose the way that you want to have the money issued back, return to your Steam Wallet, or refund to PayPal.

If you select Refund to my Steam Wallet, you’re going to see that this refund will remove Artifacts from your Steam Library.

Also, below in the window, you can tell them why are you refunding the game by choosing one of their options, and also you can type some notes if you want to be more detailed.

At the end click on “Submit request”.

It could take normally 24 to 48 hours for them to come back to you, depending on kind of when you’ve put in the refund request.
