How To Customize Cars in Saints Row
In the beginning, you need to unlock the Vehicle Customization to be allowed to customize your vehicle. However, in the early game, you won’t have enough resources to do any customization and you can only ride whatever you find around the streets.
Once you complete “A Piece of the Action” mission, you will unlock the ability to customize your cars.
First that you need to do is drive your vehicle to Jim Rob’s garage where you can bring up the customization screen, and of course, your vehicle will be stored and saved.
You can check out the door in the garage and go to the customization menu.
From there, you can select and purchase which upgrades you wish to get for your vehicle.
Another way to customize your car is in Vehicle Garage HQ. In order to do this, you need to go to the Vehicle Garage and anything you purchase from Jim Rob’s garage will be available here.
Presets have completed combinations of vehicles that players can find in their garage. Once you purchase the presets, they will have different customizations for each of them.
- Paint Styles
Standard – There are 6 standard pain types available: Gloss, Metallic, Matte, Candy, Iridescent, and Pearlescent. You can first choose which style you want and then select the color to finish your vehicle with.
Cutting Edge – These pain styles have more unique appearances compared to the Standard paint styles. Those are already given option for pain that can’t be modified.
- Body Mods
With body mods, you can customize the Hood, Spoiler, Bumpers, Roof, Exhaust, Lights, Sideskirts, and many more parts of your car.
All these mods can be purchased separately and then you can use them with different combinations.
When customizing your tires, you can select a few different profiles for the tires which includes Extra Low, Normal, High, and Extra High.
There are also specs like the axle height and the rims you use can be customized as well.
In audio customization, you can modify three parts: Engine Audio, Horn Audio, and Transmission Audio.
In the equipment menu, you have an access to modify Nitrous, Off-Road Kit, and Towing Cable. This specialized equipment can augment your driving depending upon which items you choose to purchase.
With Upgrade Kits, you can unlock a special ability that upgrades a vehicle’s speed, performance, durability, and handling. Each vehicle has a unique upgrade tier available.
