Enjoy the game solo without worrying about other players!

Rust is a popular multiplayer survival game where the only goal for players is to survive against all odds by building their own base, hunting for resources and protecting themselves from wild animals as well as other players. While the game is primarily focused on the multiplayer experience, not many people are aware that it can be also played solo.

This guide will tell you how to play Rust solo in the single-player mode offline.

How to Play Single Player in Rust

First, you need to install a tool that can unzip files such as Winrar or 7zip installed on your computer.

Next, you need to head over to this website and download this file.

After you have downloaded the file, unzip it in a convenient location of your choice such as the Desktop.

Open the Server folder and then right-click on the Run_DS.bat file.

Select the Edit option to open the file in a text editor such as Notepad.

You can change the hostname of your server by changing the line next to the server. hostname highlighted above.

Similarly, you can also change the size and seed of your server by modifying the aspects related to it in the file. For example, you can change the size by adding – for size add: +server.worldsize xxxx.

Once you have made the changes, click on File and then Save to make sure that the changes are saved.

Now double-click on Run_DS.bat to start the process of creating a local server on your computer.

This process can take a few minutes and in the meantime, you need to find your SteamID which is not your account name but a list of random numbers that correspond to your Steam account.

To find this go to and then sign in to your Steam account.

Copy the SteamID64 to your clipboard and then enter it in the CMD by typing the following command: owner id [steamid]

where you need to replace steamid with the numbers that you copied earlier.

This will make you the owner of the server that you are creating.

Now to save the changes you need to type writecfg and this will save any changes that you make.

Now leave the CMD window open in the background and launch Rust from the Steam library. In the main menu of the game, press F1 to open the console and type client.connect localhost:28015

Press enter and then F1 again and you will be able to enjoy the game solo on your own server. Make sure NOT to close the RUN_DS.bat file running in the background otherwise, your server won’t initiate and you won’t be able to play the game solo.

That’s it, now go ahead and create your own server to enjoy the game solo!
