Despite having a less than stellar launch – where players are bugged out due to server issues and absurd matchmaking queuing times, Overwatch 2’s developers Blizzard Entertainment proudly announced that the online multiplayer FPS hero-shooter has now reached over 25 million players. This is all the more impressive considering that the milestone was reached only after ten days.
Overwatch 2 Reaches 25 Million Players In Its First 10 Days
President of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Ybarra, went online to share his thoughts about the success of Overwatch 2 by stating that the game’s launch was an important moment for everyone at Blizzard.

He continued by stating that they are more than thrilled to welcome new players from around the world via the game’s transition to a free-to-play model and that this is only the beginning.
There are still so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch, he said.
Accompanying this announcement was a developer blog post that details that hero balance changes will not occur until the second season of the game starts.
In the same post, the team behind Overwatch 2 also apologized for a bug in the game’s ranking system and promised that a future patch containing a fix for it and other gameplay troubles is on the way.

It is also worth noting that Blizzard aims to make up for the troubled launch of Overwatch 2 by offering players a free all-new Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary Skin and a Health Pack Weapon Charm who log in to the game from October 25th through to the end of its first season.
Doubled match XP will also be available on the following weekends:
- Starting October 22 at 2:00 a.m. GMT+8, ending October 25 at 2:00 a.m. GMT+8
- Starting October 29 at 2:00 a.m. GMT+8, ending November 1 at 2:00 a.m. GMT+8
- Starting November 25 at 3:00 a.m. GMT+8, ending November 29 at 3:00 a.m. GMT+8
