The host of today’s professions topic is Smelting. Consider a game where you need dozens of different types of ore to craft. Moreover, these crafts are fully linked to Weaponsmithing, Armoring and Engineering, which are at the center of the game. At this point, we have gathered all the details you need to know about Smelting in New World in our guide. Let’s get started.

What is Smelting?

Smelting is a Refining profession that is directly connected to Mining, which is a collecting profession. Regardless of your starting Settlement, each town has Smelters at certain Tier levels. In these Smelters, from the first moment you start the game, you can get ingots by melting woods, iron, silvers and many more mineral ores. You need to maximize your Smelting skills to produce weapons, armor and gathering materials. You may need to find yourself in front of Smelter often by embarking on new adventures and constantly collecting mines without being idle in every quest you do. Remember, Smelting crafting is the main mechanic of New World.

How Can You Increase Your Smelting Level?

  1. From the first moment you start the game, try to cut down every tree and mine everything around you while doing your quests. At the beginner level you will probably only be able to collect wood and Iron Ore. Your quests are over and you are back in your town. Turn all the wood you collect into coal (only from 1 level to 10 level) and your iron into Iron Ingot. Do this every time you go on a quest and don’t come back until your inventory is full.
  1. Collect Silver Ore wherever you see them, which we’ll explain later where to mine. If the location we show is on your way, definitely collect Silver Ores and convert them into Silver Ingots after arriving in the village. This will give you high level of exp.
  1. Normally, most people tell you to increase your Smelter level by just collecting wood and turning it into Charcoal at the beginner level, but we don’t recommend it. Because woods are a resource that we will often need in the Armoring, Engineering and Weaponsmithing professions with which Smelter is connected. It’s an effort that isn’t worth the effort for an infrequently used material like Charcoal.

Smelter Resources

Charcoal: It is one of the simplest resources in the game. You can get Charcoal by crafting the wood you collect in Smelter. You will often need coal to craft high-level ingots in Smelter. You get +18 exp for Smelter for each Charcoal Crafting.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 3

Smelting Skill Lv. 0

Iron Ingot: It is one of the most important mines of the game from beginner to level 35. You will need Iron Ingot in many products you will make. It is the most necessary material for making Tier 2 Axes, Pickaxes, Skinning Knifes and Harvesting Sickles. Also, if you want to increase your Smelting level quickly, you need to farm iron ore constantly. Because other mines cannot be collected as fast as iron and they do not respawn as fast.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 3

Smelting Skill Lv. 0

Silver Ingot: Silver is an item you may need in some crafts, although not as much as Iron Ingot and Steel. You can generally collect them inside caves and in areas where there are Iron Ores. Gives the same experience as Iron Ingot when you melt it in Smelter.

Note: In order to increase your Smelting level, we recommended you to collect it with iron in the 2nd part, don’t forget that.

Smelter Tier 3

Smelting Skill Lv. 0

Steel Ingot

Now we come to a mine that you need the most in the middle levels of the game, but it is a little difficult to make. Steel is produced from Irons you melt and Sand Flux, one of the Refining Reagents. In our next section, we’ll explain in more detail how you can collect these crafting materials. We can say that Steel Ingot is used in every material you produce at Tier 3 level. It is an essential need, especially for the production of items such as Pickaxes and Axes that will increase your Gathering speed.

Therefore, try to store as much Steel Ingot as possible in your warehouse. Finally, Steel Ingot gives +228 Smelting experience, but don’t think about increasing your Smelter level by farming. Because you don’t want to waste your Sand Flux, which is a hard-to-find material.

Smelter Tier 3

Smelting Skill Lv. 50

Gold Ingot

It is a kind of mineral that is difficult to collect and not often found. It is extremely difficult to manufacture because its usage place is very limited. To convert Gold Ores into ingots, the Smelter level must be Tier 5. You can produce Amulets in Outfitting Station as a usage area. Especially these Amulets are very important for some classes. For example, a necklace made of Carnelian Stone may be required for medium tanks to use. Because in dungeons, mobs need to “taunt” in order to get the aggro. Crafting from these necklaces can come in handy in mid-level dungeons. You can see the crafting materials in the picture below, and we recommend you to use them when you reach level 50 or 60, as they are quite expensive to manufacture, because you do not want to spend your resources unnecessaryly.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 4

Smelting Skill Lv. 50

Starmetal Ingot

Starmetal Ingot is a Tier 4 Rank mine. When you reach Level 40 and the Company that manages your Settlement has made the necessary improvements, you can now start crafting this item. Starmetal Ingot is used in many crafts just like steel. It is a resource that you will often need especially when crafting Tier 4 gathering items that you want to increase your Gathering speed. If you want to produce heavy armors and epic level weapons in Forge, you should have plenty of Starmetal Ingots. For each Starmetal Ingot you produce, you gain +2035 experience points.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 4

Smelting Skill Lv. 100

Platinum Ingot

Starmetal is a type of mine that requires high level Mining skills that are difficult to find and collect. Since it respawns in certain places, if you need Platinum Ingot, you should constantly check these areas in certain times. You can use it to craft some epic weapons in Forge and an awesome Epic level Fire – Life Staff or Legendary level Ice Gauntlet in the Arcane Repository. These items are not beginner level. Therefore, if you have reached the Platinum Ore collection level and you still cannot craft such items, storing them is the most logical move. It requires Tier 5 level Smelter to craft. However, there is currently no such advanced Settlement on any server of the game. (Later in the game, Tier 5 will be on most servers.)

Requirements

Smelter Tier 5

Smelting Skill Lv. 100

Orichalcum Ingot

And now you are considered to have reached the last level of the game. It is the mine you need to craft all the Tier 5 level items you need, from Orichalcum Forge to Weaponsmithing to Workshop. It is extremely hard to find and respawns on high-level maps and certain areas. Gathering equipment you produce with Orichalcum gives you a total gathering speed of 625%. Sounds crazy, right? In addition, Orichalcum is also used in armors and weapons that you produce in legendary and epic levels.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 5

Smelting Skill Lv. 150

Asmodeum

Asmodeum is the only mine you need when you want to manufacture the game’s top tier equipments. It is not collectable like other mines, you can only craft it with some special items and Orichalcum Ingot. Players generally use Asmodeum to make Asmodeum Chain, Setting, Band and Hook in Jewelcrafting.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 5

Smelting Skill Lv. 200

Voidbent Ingot

Just like Asmodeum Ore, Voidbent is one of the endgame ores. Especially Voidbent Ore is fully connected with Armoring profession. You can craft items that require 200 level Armoring such as Voidbent Helm, Breastplate, Hat, Leggings. Since these items are very high-level items, they can be produced depending on some recipes.

Requirements

Smelter Tier 3

Smelting Skill Lv. 0

Mining to Smelting

  1. Beginner Level Mining: If you are a newcomer to the game and want to increase your Smelting level, the first thing you should do is get a Flint Pickaxe and go looking for Iron Ore. Some towns have mining areas that are constantly respawn in the surrounding areas. With a simple 10-minute tour, you can collect the mines here, and then you can continue your farm again as new ones will emerge as you go to processing. Especially in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd regions we have shown in the picture, there are Iron Ores. Since the creatures around it are low level, you can farm them quickly. Zone 4 is located inside the cave. Here you can collect Platinum, Silver and Gold.

Windsward Hamlet

  1. Medium Level Mining – Starmetal Location: Brightwood is an area with level 25-35 mobs. You can easily mine Starmetal in this region. The areas we have specifically marked are a mountainous area free from mobs. Therefore, you can easily increase your Mining level, moreover, you can constantly return and do Smelting because it is very close to the Brightwood Settlement.
  1. Advanced Level Mining – Orichalcum Location: In this region, you can get 1200-1500 Orichalcum per hour. But remember, since it is a high-level region, there are mobs of level 50 and above. Therefore, your gear level should be quite high. If you follow the route we show you below, you can get the ore rate that we have achieved. This region is located at the top of the Ebonscale Reach Hamlet on the left. As in Starmetal, it’s close to town so you can go Smelting while waiting for it to respawn.

WeaponSmithing to Smelting

One of the indispensable mechanics of New World is to produce Epic and Legendary items in WeaponSmithing. You can have high-level weapons in Forge by using the ingots you produce with Smelting. For example, you can craft weapons of great importance for classes such as Tier 4 Starmetal Plate Breastplate for tanks or Starmetal Tower Shield. The legendary item we’ve shown in the picture below is a high-level item you can craft in partnership with Smelting and Weaponsmithing. However, you should not forget that for the items you will produce in Weaponsmithing, you need to develop not only Smelting, but also Tannery and some side professions.

As you can see, you can see how much Timber and Tannery are needed in addition to your Smelting skills in this spear, which you can produce with WeaponSmithing.

JewelCrafting to Smelting

When your character in New World reaches the last level, you can use 3 pieces of Jewelry. These Jewelry are necklaces, rings and earnings. There are items that you can craft all kinds of Jewelery from Tier 1 to Tier 5 Legendary and Epic items. You can use Silver, Gold, Asmodeum, Orichalcum and all other ores with JewelCrafting. In the image below, you can see the items that can be crafted together with Jewelcrafting and Smelting.

Workshop to Smelting

Perhaps the Crafting profession you need most for Smelting is Engineering. Because if you want to quickly collect the resources required for Smelting, you need the Workshop. So why? Because with the high Tier Pick Axe you will produce from the Workshop, you will be able to collect ores faster. To craft Iron, Steel, Starmetal and Orichalcum pickaxes you need some special items. You can get these products when you increase your Mining level, as well as by opening the chests and crates in the regions you visit while you are doing your quests.

In short, the more you increase your Mining level with a high Tier pickaxe, the more you can increase the level of your Smelter.

Refining Reagents Required for Smelting

Sand Flux: Sand Flux is a Tier 3 level resource. It is one of the main resources you need especially to produce Steel. You may need a lot of Sand Flux to increase your Smelting level. If you want to farm Sand Flux, you have to open the Supply Containers in the 0-38 level regions. You can find Supply Containers in a series of houses or gardens.

Shelldust Flux: Shelldust Flux is a Tier 4 level resource. In Smelting, just like in Sand Flux, you can produce by choosing Shelldust Flux in Steel, Gold, Starmetal, Platinum production. If you want to farm this item, you need to open Supply Containers located in 34-58 level regions.

Obsidian Flux: Obsidian Flux Tier 5 is a refining materials. Its use is simply the same as any other flux. It can be used for the production of all ores. If you want to farm, you can get it by opening Supply Containers in any 56+ regions.

Cinnabar: It is a soft and mercury metal that is slightly easy to obtain. You can usually farm while collecting Orichalcum. It is one of the materials you need when producing Asmodeum Ingot.

Tolvium: You can get it by collecting Orichalcum Veins like Cinnabar. It can be used to produce Asmodeum as well as to produce high-level Voidbent armors.

Void Metal: In general, you can get drops while collecting Iron Ore, as well as from Supply Containers. It is a Tier 3 rank rare ore. Void Metals are often used to craft Tier 3 rank rare weapons.

Blessed Crucible: It is a Tier 4 level resource you need to craft Tier 4 equipment in the New World. It is an extremely necessary material for professions such as Engineering, WeaponSmithing and Workshop. When you start collecting Starmetal Ores, you will get them periodically in the Blessed Crucible.

Smelting Tips and Tactics

• Constantly collect Iron ore to increase your Smelting level. Do mining, farming and smelting at least 1 hour a day. Don’t waste time walking to take the Iron Ores you collect to the city, kill yourself and be born in the city. (You don’t lose anything when you die.)

• Don’t waste your flux unnecessarily. Spend it only when you need it, for example, when you are going to produce tier 3 or tier 4 pickAxes, knives, etc.

• As long as you continue to do the quests, try to collect all the mines you see around you. In the same way, look at the places in the region you work in Supply Containers and identify them and loot them.

• Never spend your wood to produce Charcoal in order to increase your smelting level!

• Determine a mining route for yourself. Make use of your spare time by Woodcutting or Skinning according to the respawn time of the mines. Because when you start crafting Tier 4 level items, you will need items such as timber and leather, which are necessary for lumbering, as well as ores.

• Never buy pickaxes, axes, etc. from the market for a quick Gathering. Try to produce it yourself. In this way, you can both learn the Crafting mechanics in more detail and at the same time increase your Smelting and Workshop levels.

Epilogue

We have tried to prepare a detailed guide for Smelting, but of course it is not all that limited. You can get different details and information about Smelting in our next profession guides such as WeaponSmithing, Jewelcrafting and Armoring. If you have an idea that you would like to be added, please feel free to comment. Have a good and productive game 😊
