Early on in the game, Kratos and Atreus will be tasked to search for Tyr deep within the Dwarven Mines. In there, players should see a lot of different puzzle mechanics, making this section of the game a delight for puzzle enthusiasts – albeit a bit challenging to some. One of the most common puzzles you are bound to encounter in the mines is the water puzzle kind. While most of them can be solved without any sweat, some could also get tricky.
In this guide, we will be showing you all the water wheel puzzles in the mines and how you can solve them.
Mines Water Wheel Puzzle Locations – God Of War Ragnarok
There are four water wheel puzzle sections in the mines and most of them require you to throw Kratos’ axe on precise points. Don’t worry about missing the throws, though, Atreus is there to fix your mistakes.

On your way to get inside the mines, you should see a large wooden mechanism that lets water flow freely on a water wheel blocking your path forward.
To proceed further, all you need to do is to aim your axe at the wooden section near the crane and fling it. This would destroy the water path and it will spill down to the large crate below, opening a path for you forward.

The next one can be seen early inside the mines. This time, you must find a way to pull the crane up so Kratos can use it to move to the next area.
You can easily solve this water puzzle by flinging the Leviathan Axe on the wooden section directly above the water wheel. This will activate the water wheel and should pull the crane up for you.

The third water wheel puzzle can be found just a bit after the second one. Again, your objective here is to pull the crane upwards so Kratos can zoom forward it using his Blades of Chaos.
Much like the previous one, all you have to do here is to aim directly at the wooden section above the water wheel to activate it.

After that, you need to activate yet another water wheel to call the elevator to fetch you. Simply, throw your axe again on the wooden section above it and the elevator should lower.
The final water wheel puzzle can be found further into the mines, where the light shining on the water makes it appear crystal-like. You would have to work with Atreus on this one.
Boost Atreus up on the broken wooden ladder first to reach the crank that activates a separate water wheel. Position yourself facing the pair of water wheels where Atreus is currently at.

Press the square button to signal Atreus to activate the crank. After doing so, immediately fling your axe on the lower water wheel to stop the rock objects from falling via the ice the axe makes while also activating it.
With the rock stuck precisely on top of the water wheel, you may now retract your axe without deactivating it.

Now, face towards the crane, and just like what you did from the previous water wheels, fling your axe directly on the wooden section on top of it to let the water flow and activate the wheel.
This will pull the crane upwards for you to then interact with.
There you have it! Those are the water wheel puzzles in the Dwarven Mines. Solving them may appear intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, you’d see that it isn’t that hard at all.
