As fun as it may be to take on the sci-fi FPS game Deep Rock Galactic by yourself, there is just that distinct satisfaction and excitement to complete its challenges alongside your best friends. After all, the game itself is designed in a way that promotes cooperation and teamwork. And needless to say, a gaming session with your best mates just makes for a very memorable time.
With that being said, how do you switch from Solo to Co-op in this game? Read on to find out!
Can You Switch From Solo To Co-Op? Find Out! – Deep Rock Galactic
Deep Rock Galactic can be played in solo mode with Bosco the drone, or a server-based multiplayer co-op mode with up to 4 players in the same session.
To switch from solo to co-op, players must first be in the Space Rig. Unfortunately, you cannot switch game modes on the fly. It isn’t a drop-in drop-out kind of multiplayer game.
In the Space Rig, you can access an overview of all public lobbies currently using the server browser. A terminal labeled ‘Quick Join’ in your personal cabin can be interacted with to pop the list of public games you may join up.
Say that you want to play co-op with online players that you don’t necessarily know yet; you can easily do so by doing this option.
Alternatively, you can also invite your friends here for a co-op session or join them instead, assuming that they are already playing and waiting for you.
On the upper left corner of your screen when on the Space Rig, there should be an option to invite friends. Pressing the corresponding button for it will pop up your friends list.
There, simply select the friend(s) you want to invite and invite them to create a party. After doing so, wait for them to accept your invitation and that is it.
On the other hand, when it is you that wants to join the fun with your friends that are already playing the game, you can do so by accessing the friends list on whatever system you may be playing at. Take note that each system may have different ways how to access the friends list.
On PlayStation, for example, you can access the friends list on the PlayStation menu. There, simply look for the friend you want to join and choose the option join group.
It is also worth noting that at the moment, crossplay support is still limited in the game. Meaning, you and your friends may not be able to play together if the systems you are currently playing on are different.
And that’s that! That is how you switch from solo to co-op in Deep Rock Galactic. With a bit of repetition, inviting or joining friends may just be second nature. Now enjoy playing the game with others!
