Counter-Strike 2, the much-awaited successor to CS GO has finally arrived and the game is currently in a limited beta testing phase ahead of its planned summer 2023 release. This limited test will allow Valve to fix bugs or issues while allowing players to try the game themselves. This guide will tell you how to enrol in the limited test beta for Counter-Strike 2.
How to Join and Try New Features
Currently, the limited beta test for Counter-Strike 2 is available to a handful of selected players. According to Valve, there are a couple of factors that determine who gets a chance to try out the sequel. These include playtime on the official server, trust factor and the Steam account standing that influence whether a player gets a chance to participate in the beta test.
According to a blog post by Valve, the trust factor refers to the “observed behaviours and attributes of their Steam account, including the overall amount of time they had spent playing CS: GO, how frequently they were reported for cheating, time spent playing other games on their Steam account, etc.
We call this system Trust, and these factors considered together form a player’s Trust Factor”. This trust factor is currently not visible to players and it also includes activity on all games in your Steam library.
The Steam Account Standing on the other hand is the status of your Valve Anti Cheat System (VAC) which can be checked by clicking on the top left corner of the Steam app.
As for the playtime on the CSGO server is concerned, Valve has warned players that staying idle on the matchmaking servers won’t count and only the playtime before the commencement of the limited test will be taken into account.
Since there is no way to signup or enrol yourself for the test, it is upto the developers to handpick players that seem best suited for the opportunity. Accounts that are currently locked on Steam won’t be able to participate in the test until the lock is removed from the account.
However, once you get selected you will receive a notification on the main menu screen with the invite to beta test Counter Strike 2. Just click on the “ENROLL” button to start the download, after the download is complete, click on the “Limited Test” option to play the game.
In the current beta test, only death matches and unranked competitive matchmaking will be offered to players on the tried and trusted Dust 2 map.
As we go closer to the launch date, the future tests will provide access to other game modes, maps and features.
Any experience points that you earn during this test will be carried over to CS: GO and any existing skins/items that you currently own will also be available in the sequel. Do note that you won’t be available to modify them which means that you cannot add or remove stickers and use trade-up contracts.
If you encounter any bugs during your test then you can report them to Valve by sending an email to cs2team@valvesoftware.com with the title “CS2LT Bug-” along with a description of the bug.
With an official launch scheduled for Summer of 2023, it won’t be long till everyone gets access to Counter Strike 2 as the game will be available as a free upgrades to all players of CS:GO.
