The first and best starter storage chest that you can make is called the Makeshift Chest. This storage chest will require you to have the following items:
- 25/25 Wood
- 10/10 Trash
Wood can be obtained simply by chopping down trees, and trash can be found almost anywhere on the map.
Once you have these ingredients, open up your crafting menu where you will be able to see the Makeshift Chest and create it.
The makeshift chest has a capacity of 20 objects. There you can place stacks of objects or singular items.
