Albion Online is a free medieval fantasy MMORPG game where players can grow their wealth, forge alliances and explore the world to engage in intense PvP combat. This guide will tell you how to level up your character in the game.
There are no character levels available or experience points available in the game and you will become stronger if you use the better gear. Your average item power is the primary measurement of character progression and using a higher-level version of the same item will allow you to get access to additional spells or skills that are not available on lower-level ones.
For example, if you equip a Tier 4 Great Axe and your average item power is 299 but with a Tier 5 axe of the same type equipped, your average item power will be increased to 336. However not just anyone can grab a high-level weapon and equip it, you will need a high level on the appropriate skill tree to do that.
These skill levels come directly from combat fame which is equivalent to XP or experience in other games. You will earn combat fame based on the items that you use in combat.
For example, the Axe fighter skill lets you equip any type of item in the game such as a two-handed great axe or one-handed battle-axe or halberd. For each individual level you gain with the Axe fighter skill, you will become stronger with all axes while the milestone levels 1,10,30,60 and 100 let you equip the next tier up.
You will need to start with the Journeyman Warrior which gives you access to basic battle axe and other basic tiers 3 weapons but at Axe Fighter level 1, you can equip tier 4 weapons while reaching tier 10 will allow you to equip tier 5 axes and so on.
Each time you kill a monster or NPC in the game, you will earn Fame for defeating them and that fame applies equally to every item you have equipped during the kill.
For example, if your total fame in Crossbow Fighter skill is 90,525 and you kill a mob that earns you 407 fame then the new total fame for this skill would be 90,932.
This skill would not have increased if you use a great axe or some other weapon to kill the mob but because you used a crossbow, the fame got applied to the skill. Meanwhile, the specialization skill for the basic crossbow will also be increased by the same amount of 407 fame.
Once you reach 20% of the required fame to reach the next level, you will be given a choice to spend learning points to advance to the next level instead of earning the required fame. If you don’t have enough LP(Learning Points) then you would need to grind your fame all the way.
This concept applies to every skill in the game except for gathering and crafting skills where you gain fame by collecting and crafting resources, not by combat.
There are also specialization skills for each specific type of axes that also make you stronger as they increase. These specialization skills are not required in order to equip the gear and they will only make you more effective with the gear that you have currently equipped.
In order to increase your character levels: first, you will need to use specific equipment such as weapons and armour to raise your skills with that equipment. Once you raise your skill with each type of equipment, you will be able to access the higher-level gear in the game.
Equipping items with a higher level will also increase your average item power which is the closest thing to a character level in the game.
This means that the way to level up your character is to simply use the skill that you wish to level up and it will gradually unlock better equipment for you. As far as combat gear is concerned, equipping better gear will raise your average item power.
That’s it, now you know how to level up your character in Albion Online!
