7 Days To Die: Save Game Location

7 Days to Die is an open-world sandbox where players need to use their survival skills and build settlements to last till the end. The game creates a save file as you progress further and it is stored in a folder on your computer. Locating your save file is as important as creating new settlements if you wish to backup, move or delete your save game files.

This guide will tell you about the save game file location in 7 Days to Die.

Save Game Location

In order to locate the save game file on Windows,  head over to the following directory on your computer:

  • C:\Users\Username\%AppData%\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves

Do note that you will need to enable the hidden folder options in Windows Explorer to ensure that the AppData folder is visible. Most of the Steam games save to the AppData folder so make sure to remember this location. You can back up these files manually or use a third-party program like GameSave Manager to simplify the process.

For users playing the game on Mac, you can find the save game files on:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie

To find the save game files on Linux, navigate to this folder:

  • ~/.local/share/7DaysToDie

In  case you wish to make changes to the Config files of the game then you will need to navigate to the following directories:

On Windows, you will find the configuration files at

  •  %AppData%\Roaming\7DaysToDie

For those folks using Mac OS, navigate to the following path for the config files:~/Library/Application Support/7DaysToDie

Last but not least, Linux users can find their config files for the game at:

  • ~/.local/share/7DaysToDie

Similarly, if you wish to add or remove mods in the game, you will need to install them to a specific folder in the game’s directory.

For Windows, you need to navigate to the following path:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\Mods

Mac OS users will find their mods at the following location:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/7 Days To Die/Mods

Those on Linux can navigate to this location to install mods:

  • ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/7 Days To Die/Mods
